경주 표암 선각화의 사찰경관적 의미 = The Landscape Meaning of the Buddhist Temple's Carved Picture with Line on Pyoam, Gyeongju City.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this research was to examine the form and content of this carved picture based on the investigation result of the Uiduk University Museum and to find out its relation to the early Buddhist temple based on the examination result.
The research result shows that the carved picture with line on Pyoam contains a special ceremony scene praying for an easy passage into pure land of Sukhavati. Also, a few facts were found out from the picture as follows: The form of a three-story pagoda was not different much from what are remaining now. It contains a very important information which can verify the stand area form of a building. Considering that a two-story central building of temple was carved, this type of construction might have been general at about the United Silla period. A hipped roof was applied to the central building of temple and Chimi was very emphasized. Considering that the Buddhist flag was heavily emphasized, the Buddhist flag was hanged on the flag pole in a very important ceremony at that time.
However, the picture with line on Pyoam is not a detailed carving but a picture which contains very rough information as crudely precise as an image map. Therefore, this carved picture has a limitation that the landscape of a Buddhist temple of that time can be examined only based on which part was emphasized. As a result, it is pointed out that a patient interpretation of inscription is absolutely necessary to find out in detail the content of this carved picture.
