조선후기 소품문(小品文)과 글쓰기 교육 -신정하(申靖夏)의 척독(尺牘)과 편지쓰기- = “The Essays” in the Late Joseon Dynasty and the Education on the Literary Composition -Shin Geong-ha`s literary letter writings and letter writing-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 조선후기에 성행한 소품문의 특성을 글쓰기 교육의 측면에서 살펴본 글이다. 조선후기의 소품문은 전대의 고문과는 매우 다른 양상으로 새로운 글쓰기를 보여주었다. 소품문의 작가들은 이지적이고 교훈적, 관념적 내용의 고문과는 달리 일상생활에 기반을 둔 정서적인 글쓰기를 추구하였다. 작가들은 자신의 개성적인 색깔과 목소리, 분위기를 글속에드러내 보임으로써, 소품문은 시적 서정이 가득한 글쓰기가 되었다. 여기서는 조선후기 소품문 가운데서 짧고 간결한 형식 속에 서정성이 넘치는 편지 양식인 척독을 주목하였다. 그리고 오늘날의 작문 교육에서 이루어지는 편지쓰기의 양상을 비판하면서 척독을 통해 편지쓰기의 바람직한 방향을 찾아 제시해 보았다. 구체적인 대상으로는 척독 양식에서 문학적 성과를 높이 이루었다고 평가받는 신정하의 작품을 선택하였다. 신정하가 개진한 척독 문체론을 통해 편지쓰기의 본질과 정신을 배우고, 그가 남긴 작품들을 통해 실용과 표현을 겸비한 편지쓰기의 선례를 살펴 보았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper tried to investigate the educational value of the Essays(小品 文) in the Late Joseon Dynasty. The Essays in the Late Joseon Dynasty cast off the form of the ‘Ku-wen(古文)’ and sought for a new kind of writings. The writers of the Essays sought for the emotional writing unlike the intellectual, instructive and abstract contents of the Ku-wen. By showing the individual color, sound, and mood of the writers, the Essays became the writings full of poetic sentiments. Among them, this paper payed attention to short writing for letters, or Chuck-Dock(尺牘) which is a sort of vignette-style of writing in order to suggest writing models of letter in these days. Shin Geong-ha`s literary letter writings prominently stand out because of its artistic and literary value. This paper introduced Shin Geong-ha`s personal view on this type of writing, and later it talked about the beauty of his works. Shin Geong-ha thought that the essence of letter writing is to disclose one`s inner mind in short writing and have a heart-to-heart talk without reserve. The subjects of his works can be categorized into three quest for poetic sentiments, enlightenments from everyday experiences, meaningful issues. This paper proposed that Shin Geong-ha`s literary letter writings are good examples of the letter writing, different from the letter writing for the purpose of practical use.
