일본사례를 통해 본 농촌관광 활성화방안

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

According to the New Environmental Paradigm Shift, rural tourism as an alternative tourism has been introduced as one way to sustainable tourism under postmodern society, and recently has been openly discussed and received considerable attention.
Rural tourism has been often suggested as one of strategies to tackle with socioeconomics crisis of nations’ agricultural sector. However, most of previous studies on rural tourism, in fact, have dealt only with general definition to search for policy alternatives and seem to fail to go further. This paper suggests to invent social cultural movement.
Rural decline is largely due to three major concomitant factors: high levels of local depopulation in rural ares, constantly changing national agricultural policies, economic decline caused by the drain of human and natural resources. In an attempt to address these issues, the government encourages urbanities to rediscover their roots in the countryside by instigating a “rural nostalgia boom” and pushes farm communities to try mass commercial tourism. Government now urges communities to pursue small-scale rural tourism based on what it perceives to be a western-style model. The social and economic welfare of agriculture is once again at a critical point. As a result, a new and different understanding of tourism is beginning to emerge in rural ares.
