The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education has become inevitable and offers positive educational potential, such as the enhancement of learning efficiency. However, excessive reliance on AI during task performance or evaluation processes poses a dilemma, as it makes it difficult to assess learners' intrinsic capabilities and may hinder the full achievement of learning objectives.
Addressing the educational dilemma posed by AI, this study investigated the learning outcomes of AI-assisted assignments through learner surveys and in-depth interviews, and derived implications for academic evaluation. Specifically, this study empirically analyzes a startup project course in which generative AI was used for market research, the creation of promotional materials, and their application to simulated startups. The results confirm that the process enabled students to gain educational benefits and that AI made a substantial contribution to the generation of project outcomes. This paper contributes to establishing strategies for designing novel AI-based assignments and developing frameworks for effectively evaluating student deliverables and learning outcomes.
