This study examined how the enjoyment of culture through a cultural city affect the perception of local residents by considering the “desirable state”of a cultural city as a settlement style, and simultaneously verify the influence of cultural factors as an influencing factor of settlement consciousness.
To this end, the study was limited to the Chuncheon Cultural City project, “Doshiga Salon”and an empirical analysis was conducted through a survey of participants. The main factors were cultural enjoyment, settlement perception, social capital, regional attachment, and happiness. Structural equation analysis was conducted to verify their influence and relationship.
The analysis revealed that cultural enjoyment had a positive effect on perceptions of settlement. In addition, not only cultural enjoyment but also social capital, regional attachment, and happiness positively affected the perception of settlement. In addition, the indirect effects of each factor on cultural enjoyment and settlement perceptions were positive.
