인성교육에서 도덕적 추론과 도덕적 직관의 통합 = The Role of Moral Intuition and Moral Reasoning in Character Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 인성교육에서 도덕적 추론과 도덕적 직관의 역할을 분석적 연구를 통하여 규명하고자 하였다. 인성교육에서 도덕적 판단을 통하여 도덕적 행동을 하도록 교육하는 것이 중요하다. 최근 도덕 심리학에서 도덕적 추론과 도덕적 직관의 과정과 기능에 대한 논쟁이 활발히 진행되고 있다. Kohlberg로 대표되는 도덕적 추론의 중요성을 강조하는 관점은 전통적인 도덕성 발달이론으로 이성적 도덕성을 강조하는 Kant의 관점을 바탕으로 도덕적 추론능력을 향상시키는 것을 주요 교육목표로 하고 있다. 반면에 최근에 Haidt는 경험론적 철학을 바탕으로 사회적 직관주의 모델을 제안하면서 도덕 직관의 중요성을 강조하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 두 가지 도덕적 판단과정에 대한 차이점과 공통점을 분석하고, 통합적인 관점을 탐색하여 효과적인 인성교육의 방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 결론적으로 전통적인 인성교육에서는 도덕직관에 비해 도덕적 추론을 덜 강조하고 있지만, 최근의 인성교육의 방향이 다양성을 추구하고 있다는 점에서 도덕적 추론과 도덕적 직관의 통합적인 교육이 필요하다는 점을 강조하고 있다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of moral intuition and moral reasoning in character education. character education stresses on education for moral behavior by moral judgment. Recently, there is constant controversy concerning the process and function of moral reasoning and moral intuition in moral psychology research. Kohlbergian (moral reasoning approach) based on philosophically Kant’s rational morality. In contrast, Haidt’s social intuitionist model(moral intuition approach) based on empiricism. This study attempts to merge the two lines of moral education by analyzing differences and common points between moral reasoning approach and moral intuition approach in character education. This study propose that character education should be integrative education of moral reasoning and moral intuition.
