In this thesis I attempt to study the First Lessons in Bach for the piano viewed in the perspective of Bach's musical and educational ideas, and also to study the position the Lessons would assume in the carriculum of musicaleducabion and their musical contents themselve. As a result, it is found out that.
1. They are important for the rudimentary training in the piano.
2. They are the rudimentary step for the intermidiate and advanced training in the piano.
3. It deals with the general as[ects of the training in the piano. though it consists of concise and plain pieces.
4. It contains such contents as are valuable for the attainment of the most funda-mental and rudimentary techniques and music.
5. Especially, it contains the best material for learning the fundamentals and expressions of phrasing and articulation.
6. It is an introductory step toward Bach's Prelude and Two Part Invention.
In view of the above-stated results of my study, it is my firm belief that the First Lessons in Bach for the Piano will be a good guide for those who would start to learn how to play the piano and those who would be good pianists.
