A computer and the internet have become indispensable tools to lead our lives in the twenty-first century which is called information and technology society. To speak more precisely, the internet has already connected to our lives very closely, so separating the internet from our lives is almost impossible. Similarly, the rapid spread of the internet certainly has been a great help to our daily lives in terms of various and convenient life styles, but a problem also has been arisen by the internet according to increase of internet use. The most serious problem would be Internet Addition. It especially has a bad effect upon younger generation who are in a time of life transition. Moreover, they can be affected by the internet psychologically and mentally. That is, the internet can cause their inappropriate social development by making them feel dissociation between an interaction(human relations) on virtual space of the internet and an interaction(human relations) in the real world.
Few conclusions could be formed on the basis of results of study which were found by this thesis, and those are as follows:
First of all, as a result of inquiring into the addition actual condition of young ages, boys showed the higher proportion of Internet Addition than girls. In addition, boys and girls showed similar results in terms of use preference in terms of information searching, but boys were found that they were more interested in an on-line game and more played it than girls.
Second, there was a significant difference of young ages according to the level of addition, and correlation was there.
That is, young ages more stick to the internet rather than try to solve a social problem directly as suffering from the more serious addition. Also, they showed bad results such as losing interest in their daily life, a drop in their school record, abandoning studies, leaving home, and bad relations with parents because they too much depend on the internet.
Therefore, teachers and parents should prevent Internet Addition from occurring by using methods described below:
First of all, teachers should induce a young ages who is suspected to have Internet Addition to make a list containing bad effects like spending too much time in the internet and good effects like having a fun in terms of opportunity. In addition, teachers should instruct students to record accurately how much they use the internet and when they log in the internet, and lead them to review their internet use conditions.
Second, parents should lead young ages to have other alternative hobbies or activities replacing with the internet, to practice such alternatives with daily schedule, and to share it with parents.
