다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This paper analyzed the literary world of Damjeong Group writers in the context of city culture. The key members of Damjeong Group were the 16 writers listed in Damjeong Kim Ryeo’s Damjeong Chongseo, including Kang Icheon and Sim Noseung. These writers, who are Seoul natives. showed unique literary traits. Thet criticized the habitual, unchanging routine of the literary circle, and created works in the form of short essays. Instead of relying on worn-out, commonly used materials, they chose the new society and citizens of Hanyang as their main subjects.
The writers enjoyed Hanyang’s material abundance and immersed themselves in city culture. Their attituds were reflected in theirs works, and they affectionately portrayed common people living in Hanyang during the late 18th century―a time of active trade. As a result, the captured the energy of the city, lives of merchants, spendings of writers enjoying material abundance, lives of city dwellers, and popular culture.
The style of city literature aspired by the group is unique and like no other in the literary history of the late Joseon dynasty. The significance of their works lies in abandoning overused materials, predictable characters, and old writer styles, and adopting a new, unfamiliar writing writing style that contributed to enhancing Hanyang’s city culture, people, and atmosphere.
