      When we examine the trends of the world in the mathematic education a discrete mathematics becomes more and more important. Discrete mathematics can improve students' mathematical ability by sorting mathematically and thinking logically discrete situation problems and it has been taken as one of the optional subjects in the 7th curriculum.
      For the teachers' case it is expected that as they have not been taught the discrete mathematics in the college they are reluctant to teach the subject. For the students' case it's possible that as they would think of the discrete mathematics as existing mathematics they would not take it as their optional subject.
      The aim of this paper is to collect and evaluate a variety of documents related with the discrete mathematics, to present the contents of the discrete mathematics introduced in the 7th curriculum and the example of real life and to emphasize the necessity of discrete mathematics. This study will be useful to make this paper be utilized as a valuable reference document and to make this subject be a good optional subject.
      So as to achieve this aim, the main stream of this paper is as follows: the trends of current mathematic education, the origin and concept of the discrete mathematics. The content of the discrete mathematics in the 7th curriculum made by the Education Department is introduced: counting, graph, algorithm, decision making and optimization presenting the concrete contents and example of the real-life.
      Discrete mathematics enriches the curriculum and makes up the subject of traditional mathematics. The chance of studying discrete maths in high school will be given and the existing maths will be enriched. therefore it is expected that students strengthen their adaptability to the future and they solve the mathematic problems by means of a computer. Afterward in order for the students interested in development of computer programs to develop the programs for solving the mathematic problems, the importance of discrete mathematics should be emphasized in high school.
