In order to obtain the basic information for the mutation of Hibiscus syriacus L., the seeds and plants were created with gamma-ray from Co-60 source. LD_50 on germination of irradiated seeds was about 10KR. The rate of chlorophyll reficient mutation was about 13% and 1% on seed and plant irradiation, dwarf type mutation rate being 0.5%. Most of all the chlorophyll mutation was induced with chimera on part of branch and node position of plant. Mutations at different parts of irradiated plant were largely formed upper and low part in V_1 and V_2 branch. The upper part buds of V_1 branch in irradiated plant were more multi-cellular than middle and low part, and primordium cell of V_2 branch bud seemed to be differentiated from V_1 branch, being multi-cellular condition in low part bud than upper and middle part of V_2. The dwarf type selected were characterized on 25% shortening than noncreated plant and half in number of node.
