(Background and Purpose)As a result of the rapid development of our society, the reduction of green space and the lack of community spaces owing to various social problems with standardized residential culture are now research problems. Additionally, for the revitalization of community culture and the expansion of green space, the revitalization of the art community garden (ACG) will be planned. (Method)The purpose of this study is to analyze successful overseas examples of ACGs and to compare them with domestic ACGs and observe the implications. Accordingly, this study defines the community gardens that revitalize communities by including the elements and activities of public art among the cases of community gardens previously implemented as art community gardens. Then, through a bibliographical survey and an analysis of contents, the spatial and social characteristics of overseas cases were compared with domestic ones. (Result)As a result, this study established the fact that ACGs that provide scenic merits and places for cultural activities can serve as community landmarks. We thus draw the conclusion that the institutional incentives and government support that will attract the voluntary participation of citizens and make possible the application of public art should be discussed.
