중년의 권위주의적 성향과 외집단 접촉경험이 차별적 편견에 미치는 영향

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 중년의 권위주의적 성향과 외집단에 대한 접촉경험이 이주민차별, 장애인차별, 노인차별로 구성된 사회적 약자에 대한 차별적 편견에 미치는 영향을 검증했다. 검증을 위해서 인구가 약 60만 명인 중소도시에서 20개 ‘동’을 무작위 선정한 뒤, 35세에서 50세 사이의 중년을 각 동에서 20명씩 편의 추출하였다. 전체 400명으로 구성된 표본을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 조사원이 제시하고 답변을 얻었다. 회수된 응답 중에서 결측치, 이상치, 정규분포 등의 조건을 만족한 361사례가 분석대상이 되었다. 분석은 빈도분석, 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, 다중공선성 검증, 구조방정식 등을 실시했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 권위주의적 성향이 이주민차별과 노인차별의 정적인 선행변수임이 확인되었다. 둘째, 외집단 접촉경험은 이주민차별, 장애인차별, 노인차별의 부적인 선행변수임이 확인되었다. 셋째, 권위주의적 성향이 장애인차별과 외집단 접촉경험에 미치는 영향은 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 넷째, 교육수준은 권위주의 성향과 접촉경험이 차별적 편견에 미치는 영향을 부분적으로 조절했다. 연구결과는 중년의 권위주의적 성향은 차별적 편견에 영향을 미치지만 교육 등을 통해서 중재가 가능하며, 외집단에 대한 긍정적 접촉프로그램을 통해서 차별적 편견을 완화시킬 수 있음을 시사하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study empirically confirmed a path model that middle-aged Korean’s authoritarian personality and out group contact experience were predictors of discriminatory prejudice such as disablism, ageism and immigrant discrimination. To verify the model, we purposively collected a sample of 400 cases at the age of 35-50 from randomly selected 20 dongs in a medium-sized city and 361 cases, which survived the data cleaning such as missing values, outliers, normality and multicollinearity, were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, reliability and path model analysis. Followed were the selected contributions. First, authoritarian personality was a positive predictor of discriminatory prejudice against the elderly and immigrants. Second, out group contact experience was a negative predictor of discriminatory prejudice against the elderly, the disabled and immigrants, Third, authoritarian personality was not statistically significant predictor of disablism and out group contact experience. Fourth, education level moderated the effect of authoritarian personality and contact experience on discriminatory prejudice. The present results suggested that educational intervention would alleviate the prejudice caused by authoritarianism. Also positive contact experience between groups could mitigate those discriminatory prejudice.
