      The purpose of this study was to find out the forming factors and characteristics of academic culture of the college athletes' who were performing sport and school work simultaneously. Total seventy two college athletes were purposively selected to understand the circumstances and perception of the subjects in terms of performing both sport and school work using a semi-structured questionnaire. Four college athletes were also selected from the C university to find out their academic culture by in-depth interviewing and observing of daily school life.
      The findings of the study were as follows;
      Firstly, the forming factors of the academic culture were i) the college athletes were taking accountability as a student in the educational system, ii) the college athletes were taking accountability as a player in the sport system, iii) the college athletes were forming human relations with their colleagues, coaches and professors, and were influenced by them, iv) the college athletes were conducted their daily life both sport and educational space, and thus the restricted spatial limits was influencing their academic culture.
      Secondly, the four characteristics of the college athletes' academic culture were drew out as conclusion, namely limitedness, having unsystematic academic learning, uncertainty, and dependability; i) limitedness refers that the academic restriction in educational system, ii) their academic ability was not adequate enough to college level study due to their cumulative academic deficiency from the elementary and/or secondary school levels, iii) uncertainty means that their future of life was not guaranteed, and iv) dependability refers that the college athletes should get helped by somebody to catch up the school work.
      It was suggested to find out the college athletes' culture of generation by generation and the reproduction process of the culture for future study.
