This study is a descriptive research study aimed at understanding the general characteristics, dementia fear, dementia preventive behaviors, and correlation between dementia fear and dementia preventive behaviors for the elderly living in the community aged 65 or older. The dementia fear among the subjects was average at 3.21 out of 5, but dementia fear among the subjects was higher at the social level than at the cognitive and physical level. In addition, there were statistically significant differences in the sex, academic background, subjective health conditions and the most feared diseases, and few physical reactions caused by dementia. The average score of dementia preventive behaviors is 3.5 out of 5. The score of those who thought they would not suffer from dementia was higher than that of those who thought they would likely suffer from dementia, and there was a statistically significant difference. The subjects were found to be the best at quitting smoking and the least likely early detection of dementia. As a result of analysis, It was shown that there was no correlation between dementia fear and dementia preventive behaviors, but dementia fear was related to diet, brain injury prevention, health examination, and dementia preventive behaviors were correlated with cognitive level, prior knowledge, social level, and family worry. Age was correlated to the shame of dementia fear, exercise, communication, and early detection of dementia.
