21세기 한국사회의 다양성과 소설적 전망

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper intends to survey the cultural situation of contemporary times and the transitional aspects of cultural trends in literary territory. The key note of contemporary culture in Korea is that the monoculturalism is replaced with multiculturalism. Along with the change of cultural trends, some novelists worked on the cultural transition especially on the workers from abroad. Even though traditionally the originality and the uniqueness of the nation stressed in many context of discourses, present situation of cultural transition is not free from the multicuralism of the society. Diverse foreigners come to Korea and they work in the difficult lavour conditions with low wages. And many foreign women come to Korea with `Korean dream` and they marry with Korean males, but the babies they produced have no merits from the national authorities. Some novelists intended to describe the cultural situation of Korea, the novel Namaste by Park Bumshin is one of the examples. In this paper the novel analysed by the basic concept of multiculturalism. Concerning the results of the analysis and the socio-cultural situation of present time, some perspectives are suggested. They are as follows; The back ground and territory of novels will be extended in domestic and abroad. The new type of problematic individual will be developed as a novelistic character. Alternative ideal of life will be pursued in the novels and fictions. The language of the novel will be innovated by foreign languages that the characters use in the text, new style will be made. Method of criticism will be developed toward another principles. In short, by multicuralism we shall have another understanding of humanbeing in novelistic world.
