Hybrid composite beams, utilizing high-strength steel (HSS) in tension-dominant regions like the lower flange, are being actively researched for efficiency. HyFo Beam is a type of U-shape composite beam integrated with a concrete slab via shear connectors. While HSS in the lower flange can significantly increase strength, ensuring sufficient ductility is a key concern, as is understanding the influence of the degree of shear connection. This study experimentally investigated the flexural performance of hybrid HyFo Beams. Experiments varied the bottom flange steel grade (SM355 vs. SM460) and the degree of shear connection (composite ratio). Results confirmed that using SM460 increased ultimate flexural strength. Although the composite ratio affected load capacity and failure modes, the hybrid beams consistently achieved sufficient bending performance and ductility across the tested variables. It was confirmed that the application of high-strength steel to the lower flange of HyFo composite beams is effective in increasing flexural strength.
