School education for students with disabilities must be the process of preparing for adult life and improving the quality of life, and approach from a lifelong education view to know the meaning and value of learning and make learning activities be in use in every day life continuously. Lifelong education for students with disabilities in school education need to build a continuous education system by linking various learning environments to participate in lifelong learning, and must have directivity to provide various programs meeting the characteristics of the disorder. Also aiming the integration of students with disabilities within the community, we must cooperate with the community in order to utilize humanㆍmaterial resources efficiently, diversify programs and to build infrastructure for lifelong learning. Being aware of these issues this study, cooperating with schools and communities, suggests lifelong learning programs for individuals with disabilities and tried to contribute to increasing accessibility, diversity, and the activation of lifelong learning for individuals with disabilities. For this, we developed and applied a program 'School-community network based after-school program' to support lifelong learning for students with disabilities and drew implications for lifelong learning for students with disabilities by analyzing the results. The results are as follows:
First, we developed and applied a school-community network based after-school program to support lifelong education for students with disabilities. It is difficult to expect that students with disabilities can improve the quality of life and holistic development by school curriculum alone. High school curriculums which prepare students with disabilities for adult life, requires urgent support to overcome the limitations of school education and also need lifelong learning support for students with disabilities. In order to meet these needs we developed and applied an after-school program for lifelong learning through collaboration with the school and community. This program, 'Expression and communications media education program for students with disabilities.', reflects the socialㆍprofessionalㆍleisure and cultural needs of students with disabilities and was made to be applied to real life by taking advantage of the interdisciplinary nature of media education. In addition, made a wide range of contents so students with disabilities can be self-directed in lifelong learning after graduating from highschool. This program extracted the needs and right level of media education for students with disabilities and was developed in conjunction with schools, media education centers, and youth training centers. Also it was composed to cultivate social skills, help grow professional skills, and to support leisure and cultural support. The program was conducted 20 times on the first program and 20 times on the second program.
Second, we analyzed the results of the application of school-community network based after-school program to support lifelong education for students with disabilities. The first program helped to connect personal diverse experience with the media to feel the joy of learning and help self-directed learning. As a result, the students could express themselves by using drawings and pictures and approached on how to communicate with others. In addition the students could understand the basics about media and also handle digital media devices, and acquired a new awareness on empathy and communication media through storytelling and various sound recordings. The second program supported students with disabilities to be equipped with social and professional skills as a member of the community and to continue lifelong learning after graduation. As a result, students understood about the preparation for professional life and leisure, also understood how to use the internet and computer programs and applied it in real life, and made creative expressions by making clay animations through teamwork. Through the application of the first and second program, we enhanced the quality of learning through cooperation with the school-community and developed self-directed learning skills through the joy of learning and supported lifelong education for students with disabilities. In addition, by combining the contents of the program to real life and allowing them to be used in various ways, provided a chance to give shape of the possibility of lifelong education to the students with disabilities.
Third, based on the results mentioned above, proposed a school-community network based lifelong education program for students with disabilities. This program was designed to open a lifelong education program for students with disabilities at a local government lifelong learning center. In addition, described how to operate lifelong education for students with disabilities in detail so it can be operated not only in lifelong learning centers but also university's lifelong learning centers, community welfare centers, youth centers etc. Related with the program, we made lesson plans so program operators can have diversity and flexibility. In this program, we tried to deliver the relevance between lifelong education and the elements of lifelong education programs for individuals with disabilities derived from the first and second program results. This program was named 'Media education for understanding and communication for individuals with intellectual disability and autistic disorder<me, you, us>' and was made to connect the joy of learning through lifelong education activities and to utilize it in real life and also to connect the will for learning and lifelong learning. We allowed the students to communicate with the society by helping them connect themselves with the media-society through the understanding of oneself and others.
