아동 구타의 대책과 예방 = Intervention and Prevention of Child Abuse in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recent studies on child abuse in Korea made it quite clear that child abuse, at least physical abuse, is not rare and becomes a major medical and social issue in Korea. Professionals from different disciplines have formed Korean Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. The author proposes the following suggestions for the intervention and prevention of child abuse in Korea. 1. Continuous efforts for case findings and a large scale survey of various kinds of child maltreatment. 2. Establishment of child abuse treatment team at major university hospitals and education of physicians, especially pediatricians and family practioners regarding child abuse. 3. Addition of child protective role to existing health care facilities such as public health center and education of the personels of child welfare agencies on child abuse intervention and prevention. 4. Establishment of community based services such as home visit, mother-child health education, volunteers. 5. utilization of preschool child care facilities for detection and intervention of child abuse. 6. Intervention of family violence and marital discord 7. Intervention for high risk family. 8. Public and school education, on marriage and sex, child development and child rearing. 9. Establishment of child protection service and mandatory reporting system for abused children by the government.
