Inorganic-organic hybrid materials are a new type of composite material in which the inorganic and the organic components are combined at the molecular level There has been much research on the application of these hybrid materials as functional coatings on glass and polymer substrates. Silica particle(H25)/vinytriethoxysilane(VTES) hybrid materials were prepared. We compared the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of the heat-insulated composite materials. When the surface of silica particles was compared with that of VTES before and after the modification, it was confirmed that the mechanical properties of the composite after the modification were increased. The organic functional groups of silica surfaces lead to an increase of the adhesion at interfaces between silicas and the rubber matrix. It can be concluded that silane coupling agents of silicas can be utilized to develop more selective and effective fillers for organic rubber matrices in a compounding system.
