다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This article aims to explore vedanā in relation to other mental (nāma) aggregates and understand the influence of vedanā on cognitive process by reinterpreting it through the study of “affect” in scientific research on emotion. As a response to an object and initial building block of affective dimension, vedanā is a mental factor (cetasika) always present in mind. Its importance lies in the fact that perception, mental formations and consciousness in khandhas depend on it and also it turns sensation-based contact into objects of craving. ‘Sensation’, ‘emotion’, or ‘feeling’ are common translations used interchangeably in English, but no consensus is made yet. “Affect “Affect” is a noun with its accent on the first syllable, /af-ekt/.
” in emotion research is not emotion but a much simpler feeling with two features of valence and arousal. I suggest that vedanā and affect share meaningful similarities not only in terms of semantics but in terms of more in the context of functions and implications. I will assess the significance of vedanā in the Nikāyas and that of affect in emotion research respectively. I will then elucidate on their similarity in terms of their function as validating perception, and grounding the notion of self and reality. The informative value of vedanā and affect is responsible for deciding the contents of everyday judgements and decision making and long-term beliefs and faith as well.
