Color provides the environment which understands and satisfies human needs, and the characteristics of color support the life of humans who seek high quality of life. Applying color design to city buildings is meaningful in that it can create the buildings of plain and inflexible design into those of soft impression, and that it has efficient and sentimental value of giving a sense of security to underground spaces such as basement parking lots. Accordingly, for the improvement of urban environment, examining color elements prior to forms can show high economic efficiency in terms of management improvement. Though urban images will be basically determined by the forms and colors of nature and artificial structures consisting of cities, the color landscape that we recognize appears as a cultural phenomenon formed by a combination of human, social, economic, technical and environmental elements in company with natural environment. Recently, Crime Prevention through Environmental Design(CPTED) is being applied to urban and architectural environments.
