민속학과 전공 커리큘럼과 학생들의 민속학적 관심

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 민속학과에서 운영되고 있는 전공 커리큘럼의 분석을 통해서 민속학의 학문적 체계와 연구동향과의 관계를 살펴보았다. 또한 민속학과 학생들의 학과 선택동기와 학문적인 관심이 커리큘럼에 반영되어 있는지를 분석하여 전공과목의 교과과정을 개선하는데 목적을 두었다. 학과 선택의 동기에 관해서는 설문조사를 통해서 파악하였다. 또한 학생들의 관심분야는 졸업논문의 주제를 통해 분석을 하였다. 학생들은 대다수가 학문적 관심보다 합격가능성에 중점을 두어 학과를 선택하였으며, 현대민속에 관심이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
현행 교과과정은 기존의 민속학의 연구 성과를 반영하여 구비문학 등 특정분야에 과목으로 세분화되었으며, 과목의 난이도를 고려하지 않고 편성되어 있다. 이러한 문제점을 고려하여 개선된 교과과정을 제시하였다. 교과과정의 편성기준은 유사한 과목은 통폐합하고, 4학년에서는 졸업 후에 사회 진출하여 활용할 수 있는 과목으로 구성하였다.
우선, 전공기초 과목은 학생들이 쉽게 민속학을 이해하고 흥미를 갖도록 편성하였다. 전공과목은 다양한 민속학의 분야를 이해하고, 현대사회의 문화현상을 민속학적 관점에서 접근할 수 있는 과목으로 편성하였다. 이러한 새로운 교과과정을 제시하였으나, 민속학의 연구 성과 없이는 과목개설이 현실적으로 불가능하다. 민속학계는 많은 연구서적이 출판되어 교재개발이 되어야 한다. 또한 새로운 과목이 개설된다 하더라도 이를 지도할 수 있는 강사가 확보되어야 한다. 민속학자들이 다양한 분야에 많은 관심을 갖고 연구해야 한다. 특히 현대 민속학의 학문적 진전과 이론 교육이 요구된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The objective of this study is to figure out the academic structure of folklore and research status through analysing academic curriculum of the Folklore department. Moreover this study aims to improve the curriculum by analysing students' intellectual interests and motives when they chose their major. Recent survey was made to find out how the students chose their major, and students' interests were analysed based on thesises of the graduates. Most students chose their major simply to pass the entrance exam in university rather than academic interests, and many students in dept. folklore were interested in contemporary folklore.
Present curriculum is specified based on previous researches on folklore such as oral literature, and it consists without regard for the degrees of difficulty. Considering these subjects, new improved curriculum will be suggested in this paper. The main points of organizing new curriculum are to integrate similar courses and to design practical courses for the senior year so they can put knowledge to practical use after graduate.
First of all, primary subjects are consisted of instruction to Korean folklore that the 1st year students can understand the major and raise their awareness. Major courses are consisted of various field researches and contemporary folklore studies. Although new curriculum has been suggested, it is impossible to offer new courses without fundamental academic researches on folklore. For this, suitable lecturers for the new courses are essentially required as well as new teaching materials. The folklorist are responsible for researching various field studies, and further studies of contemporary folklore are specially demanded at the present time.
