세월호 사건보도에 나타난 언론의 행동경제학적 편향에 대한 분석 = An Analysis on the Behavioral Economic Bias of the Press Reports Dealing with Sewol Ferry Disaster

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In recent years, behavioral economics has been applied with various ways for the studies and practices on economics and social science field by means of interpretation of the human decision-making process persuasively. The confirmation bias can be the typical cognitive fallacy in behavioral economics, and creeping determinism, hindsight bias, and narrative fallacy are included in this bias. On the view of this theory, it is can be anticipated that there will be a confirmation bias in the press report frame dealing with social massive disaster, the bias will also frame the cognition of the public distortedly, and they will be leaded in the extreme views which suit their palate in ‘the constructed reality’. This study, with analysis of newspaper editorial regarding Sewol Ferry Disaster which has largely social influence on South Korea, intended to make an affirmation how the framing and the confirmation bias would be appeared, and to explain what or where is the mechanism of the behavioral economic bias in the escalated conflict of opinions that is based extreme thinking in South Korea. The attempt of this study, by analyzing a certain phenomenon in which cognitive fallacies and extreme thinking is reinforced, will be helpful to reduce the social costs and to build proper and alternative policies, beyond to the level of normative alternatives for the desirable way of press reports.
