관계 데이타베이스를 이용한 객체중심 데이타베이스의 표현과 구현 = Supporting Object-Oriented Views of Databases Within a Nested Relation Framework

국문 초록 (Abstract)

NOODM이라고 불리는, 중첩관계 데이타베이스 모델을 기반으로 한 새로운 객체중심 데이타베이스 모델을 소개한다. 객체중심 개념을 근간으로 하는 데이타베이스 설계는 NOODM≠을 이용하면 쉽고 구조적으로 할 수가 있다.
중첩관계 데이타베이스 모델은 보통 관계 데이타베이스 모델보다 많은 장점을 지니고 있다. 중첩관계 데이타베이스 모델을 확장시키면서 기존의 시맨틱 데이타 모델과 객체중심의 주요 개념들을 중첩관계 데이타모델 안에서 이해하려고 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A new object-oriented data model (NOODM≠) based on the nested relational data model is presented. Many previous ideas about semantic data modeling and object-orientation, are accommodated into a single framework. Object-oriented conceptual database design can be accomplished in an easy and structured manner, using the NOODM model.
Nested relations are considered semantically more powerful and easier to use and understand than first normal form relations because nested relations can have relation-valued attributes. In the NOODM model, we extend the nested relation data model by allowing operation-valued attributes as an attempt of behavioral extension. The three useful abstraction mechanisms, aggregation, generalization, and classification, are supported in a natural way.
The main objective of the NOODM model is to keep conceptual and operational simplicity of the relational data model and to incorporate the useful notions of semantic data models and object-orientation, for supporting an object-oriented view of databases.
