      A new method to estimate the rotational modes from the dynamic strain measurement in beams is proposed. Unlike the existing rotation signal measurement techniques which utilize the transverse acceleration signals, the present technique is to integrate measured strain signals to obtain the rotational mode; the results are less sensitive to any measurement errors and the mass loading effect is virtually negligible. Furthermore, the present technique directly estimates the rotation of the normal of the middle surface, not the rotation of the middle surface. Several experiments are performed to verify the validity of the present method.
