In order to investigate the mechanical characteristics regarding as acid-resistance of alkali activated cement(AAC) concrete, the weight reduction and compressive strength of AAC concrete specimen which was immersed into the solution of 5%, 20% hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid were measured. Also, the same characteristics were examined for the normal concrete which was used ordinary portland cement(OPC).
As the results, the maximum weight decreasing ratio of AAC concrete was approximately 3% though OPC concrete was nearly 60%, and the maximum compressive strength decreasing ratio of AAC concrete was around 26% although OPC concrete was nearly 94%. Consequently, the acid-resistance of AAC concrete was outstanding more thoroughly than OPC concrete especially against sulphuric acid.
