메를로-퐁티의 ‘살’의 정치학 = The Politics on Merleau-Ponty"s ‘flesh’: The Reformation of Habermas’s Commensurability Thesis

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 하버마스 생활세계-맥락적 정치의 정치(학)적 의의를 공유하면서도 그것이 가지는 불충분성을 메를로-퐁티의 "살(flesh)"개념에 기초하여 재구성하고자 한다. 소통가능성 테제에 대한 이러한 재구성은 생활세계-맥락적 정치에 대한 현상학적 접근이다. 하버마스 생활세계-맥락적 정치가 신체와 결부된 모든 경험적 잔재의 배제를 통해서 재구성된 이론적 틀을 통하여 정치적 현상에 접근하였다면, 메를로-퐁티의 생활세계-맥락적 정치는 인간 실존에 대한 현상학적 이해에 기초해 있다. 인간 실존이 폭력과 비폭력 중에서 어느 하나를 선택하는 것이 아니라 폭력과 비폭력의 교차적 구조 속에 있다는 점에서, 메를로-퐁티의 생활세계-맥락적 정치는 폭력과 비폭력의 교차적 구조 속에서 발휘되는 인간의 탁월한 능력이라 할 수 있다. 다시 말해서 메를로-퐁티의 ‘살’에 기초한 생활세계-맥락적 정치는 폭력과 비폭력의 교차적틀 속에서 하나의 질서체계를 구축하려는 시도라 할 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 메를로-퐁티의 ‘살’에 기초한 생활세계-맥락적 정치는 공감(sympathy)과 적대(antagonism)의 변증법적 정치라고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to overcome the insufficiency of Habermas’s commensurability thesis on the Merleau-Ponty’s ‘flesh’. This reformation is the phenomenological approach to the politics on lifeworld. If Habermas’s approach to the politics on lifeworld is the application of the theoretical frame reformed on the basis of choice and exclusion to political phenomenon, the politics on lifeworld on the basis of Merleau-Ponty’s ‘flesh’ is based on the phenomenological understanding for human existence. In other words, if Habermas’s approach to the politics on lifeworld is excessively idealized excluding strategic aspect on the layers of political position, the politics on lifeworld on the basis of Merleau-Ponty’s ‘flesh’ is the attempt to establish a order system in the intersectional frame of violence and nonviolence. In this context, the politics on lifeworld on the basis of Merleau-Ponty’s ‘flesh’ is the dialectic politics of sympathy and antagonism.
