An Investigation on the International Marketability of the Specialized Goods Exported from Chungnam Area:
Korean economy has been developed by the first five-year economic development plan.
The plan satisfied korean people's desire and played a leading role for the change of the korean economic growth and industrial structure.
But the ill-balance the development of various industries is obliged to have connection with oversea markets.
The more ill-balanced the development of the industries is, the more the nation's economy has to depend upon a trade.
what goods did the world market want from korea in the past?
In what state does Korea lie now?
What problems are arising?
We have neglected our activities for cultivation oversea markets.
In 1967 we achieved our goal of 350,000,000 dollar export.
We are doing our best to reach the target for 500,000,000 dollar export in 1968.
But we are inclined to be under no good condition.
The more our exports are expanded, the more we are being faced the severe competition in the international market.
The government in going to plan to accomplish the desired goal of 1,000,000,000 dollar export by 1971, encouraged by the good result achieved last year.
To accomplish such purpose, we have to find and develop the industries which are able to make in loads into oversea markets.
Therefore, this paper has a significance in developing all goods out of the specialized that are possible to export from Chungnam area.
In 1967 Chungchongram-Do attained the result of 17,194,206 dollar export, the goal being 150,000,000 dollar.
The analysis of the results of the trade done by Chungnam shows that manufactured goods is 61 per cent and agricultural goods 21.
As compared with 70 per cent of manufactured goods throughout the country, there is a great disparity.
This results from Chungnam area's feature of industrial structure.
The goods exports from Chungnam are 60 rorts or so.
The chief goods of them are cotton fabrics, refined pig-hairs, wig, silk, pencils, electric bulbs, automobile accessaried silica, zinc, etc.
Especially, Chungnam area's exports are produced by domestic handicraft, with peculiar arts and resources that this area alone has been blessed with, so that they are all economical investing and intensive in labor.
The specialized exports this paper investigates are; Human hair wigs from Taejon, Glass beads and Imitation pearls from Yongi-goon, Bamboo-handicraft from Susan-goon, Ramie cloth from Suchong-goon, Ginseng from Kumsan-goon, Woods braids and straw braids from Nonsan-goon.
Besides, the present state of the exports, the trend of oversea marketss, and our difficulties and counter-measure, are to be examined here.
