    This study was performed to investigate the general dietary intake, the dietary intake of before competition, the dietary intake of after competition, and beverage drinking status of male Taekwondo players. The subjects were college male Taekwondo players and male sedentary students. Daily nutrient intakes of players were assessed by individual interview using 24-hr recall method. Taekwondo players had higher energy intake and consumption than sedentary students. The average energy intakes of players were 2739.3kcal that did not reach the total energy expenditure(3370.73kcal) of the players. Most mean intakes of the vitamin and minerals of the players satisfied the Korean dietary reference intake(KDRI). However, potassium, vitamin C, and folic acid did not meet the KDRI in the players. The Taekwondo player`s dietary calcium, iron, sodium, zinc, vitamin B1, B2, B6, and vitamin E intake were higher than the control group. Markedly low calorie, protein, lipid, calcium, sodium, potassium, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin B2, and vitamin E intake compared to the recommendation were observed at one week before competition. Carbohydrate, iron, vitamin C, and folic acid intake were significantly lower at one week before competition compared to the normal period or short after competition. The beverage intake of Taekwondo players were 2.19 times higher than that of the control group. Male Taekwondo players drank soft drinks 10 times more than the control group.
