일상생활수행 의존도가 중·고령자 우울에 미치는 종단적 영향 = The moderating effect of marital satisfaction on the longitudinal relationship between functional dependency and depression

This study examined the moderating effect of marital satisfaction on longitudinal relationship between functional dependency and depression of middle and older adults. Four waves of nationally representative data from Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) were used for analysis. In this study, the data was converted into dyadic data on 2,331 middle and older couples whose marital status had not changed throughout the four waves. Using HLM 7.0, multi-level growth models were used to identify depression trajectories of individuals within couples. 3 levels models were used; intra-individual level (level 1), between individuals level (level2), between couples level (level3). The results indicated that higher functional dependency levels were associated with higher levels of intercept for depression and accelerated the increase of depression. The moderating effect of marital satisfaction was also found in this study. That is, higher levels of marital satisfaction relieved the negative effect of functional dependency on initial statuses of depression. Therefore, it is highly recommended that we aid middle and older adults with functional dependency in order to reduce their depression levels by improving their marital satisfaction.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 일상생활수행의 의존도가 중·고령자 우울 수준에 미치는 종단적 영향과 이에 대한 부부관계 만족도의 조절효과를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 본 연구는 고령화연구패널조사(Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing: KLoSA)의 1차(2006년)~4차(2012년)년도 자료를 이원자료(dyadic)로 재구성하여 분석하였다. 분석 대상은 1~4차년도 내내 혼인상태를 유지하였으며 남편과 아내 모두 45세 이상인 부부 2331쌍이다. 종속변수는 CESD-10으로 측정된 1~4차년도 우울 점수이다. 독립변수는 일상생활수행의 의존도로, ADL 및 IADL의 하위영역 중 도움이 필요한 영역의 수를 의미하며 1~4차년도 평균을 사용하였다. 부부관계 만족도는 배우자관계 만족도 문항에 응답한 남편과 아내의 값을 평균 낸 것으로, 1~4차년도 평균 부부관계 만족도가 사용되었다. 자료는 HLM 7을 이용하여 3수준 다층성장모형으로 분석하였으며, 각 수준은 개인 내 수준(1수준), 개인 간 수준(2수준), 부부 간 수준(3수준)으로 구성되었다. 통제변수로는 1차년도 성별, 연령과 교육수준, 그리고 만성질환자 여부가 2수준에서, 가구소득이 3수준에서 포함되었다. 독립변수는 2수준에서, 그리고 조절변수인 부부관계 만족도는 부부 간 수준인 3수준에서 분석에 포함되었다. 분석 결과, 일상생활수행의 의존도가 높을수록 우울의 초기 수준이 높고 우울의 증가 속도가 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부부관계 만족도는 일상생활수행의 의존도와 우울의 초기수준과의 관계에 있어서 유의미한 조절변수인 것으로 나타났는데, 부부관계 만족도가 높은 경우 일상생활수행의 의존도가 우울의 초기수준에 미치는 부정적 영향의 일부를 완화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 일상생활수행의 의존도가 높은 중·고령자의 경우 부부관계 만족도를 증진시킴으로써 우울 수준을 낮출 수 있으며 이에 대한 다양한 중재 방안이 마련될 필요가 있다.
