Research on the analysis of audio-visual content has enabled advancement in multimedia information system. In this paper, we propose a technique to detect the events from basketball video sequence using audio information. We analyze audio signal data to predict the location of an important event from which a cheering sound happens to start, using the combination of MFCC features and the LPC entropy. The experimental results show that the event detection from basketball video is effective for identifying cheering sound from basketball specific sounds.
