Since the Franch surgeon. Ambroise Pare reported two cases of diaphragrnatithernia in 1579.
Dr. Walker did success of surgical correction. There after numerous cases were reported in both surgical and pathological aspect.
Recently we experienced a case of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia with surgical ,correction. This patient was 38 years old male who has had penetrating gun shot wound on left lower chest which was treated an military hospital externally skin wound case.
He come in our clinic for sudden onset of abdominal pain.
Simple chest film showed small I bowel shadow in left chest cage.
Operation; was performed thoraco-abdominal approach, which revealed distal part or jejunum and proximal part of ileum were herniated into left thorax through diaphragmatic defect approximated 8cm in length. Reposition of small bowel and closure of diaphragmatic defect were done without difficulty. Post operative progress was satisfactory.
