주제 중심 고전문학교육의 실현 방안에 대한 연구-주제 이해를 심화하는 활동의 효과에 대한 논의를 중심으로- = To realize topic-centered classical literature education: The effectiveness of activities to deepen understanding of the topic

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 주제 중심 고전문학교육의 가능성에 주목하고, 주제 중심의 작품 해석에 그치는 기존 교육적 실천의 한계를 개선할 수 있는 방안을 모색한 연구이다. 지금까지 고전문학교육의 본질과 방법에 대한 논의가 여러 가지 측면에서 이루어져 왔으나, 학습자들이 고전을 통해 자신의 삶에 대한 이해를 더욱 깊이하고, 삶의 지평 확대를 적극적으로 도모할 수 있는 실천적인 교육 방안이 제안되지 못했다. 이 연구에서는 오늘날 학습자가 자신의 삶과 관련하여 작품에서 탐구해야 할 핵심적인 내용이자 학습 내용으로서 ‘주제’를 중심으로 한 고전문학교육이 고전문학작품을 통해 학습자의 실질적인 삶에 기여할 수 있는 하나의 방법론이 될 수 있다고 보고, 교육의 실천적 국면에서 이를 효과적으로 운용하여 구체화할 수 있는 방안을 탐구하였다.
연구 결과, 주제 중심 고전문학교육이 실제 학습자의 삶과 관련한 깊이 있는 탐구로 이어지기 위해서는 주제를 중심으로 수업을 초점화 할 필요가 있으며, 특히 주제와 관련한 학습자의 감상문 작성과 그에 대한 피드백, 참여 구성원 간의 소통이 학습자의 주제에 대한 이해를 심화하여 주제 중심 교육의 효과를 높이는 데 기여할 수 있음을 파악할 수 있었다. 이는 기존의 문학사에 기반한 장르 중심, 개별 작품 중심 고전문학교육과는 다른 시각에서의 교육적 접근으로서 교양교육 등에서 활용할 수 있는 고전문학교육 실천의 한 방안을 제시한다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

This study focuses on topic-centered classical literature education and seeks ways to overcome the limitations of current educational practices that limit the topic-centered interpretation of works. Until now, the nature and methods of classical literature education have been discussed from a variety of perspectives, but there is no practical way or educational plan proposed for learners to deepen their understanding of their lives and actively seek to expand their life horizons through the study of the classics. In this study, classical literature education centered on the “theme”as the core content and the learning content that today’s learners must explore in works related to their lives can contribute to learners’practical lives through the study of classical literary works. We adopt this as a methodology and explore ways to implement it in the practical aspects of education.
As a result, for topic-centered classical literature education to lead to an in-depth exploration of the actual lives of learners, it is necessary to focus on the topic in class. In particular, learners’reflections and feedback and the communication between participating members must focus on the topic. This could contribute to increasing the effectiveness of topic-centered education by deepening the understanding of the topic step by step. This is significant in presenting a method of practicing classical literature education that can be a beneficial educational approach in liberal arts education and that is developed from a perspective different from that of classical literature education centered on genres and individual works based on existing literary history.
