경기도 청년정책 거버넌스의 정책 의사결정 과정 탐색하기 = Examining the Policy Decision-Making Process of Youth Policy Governance in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea

Youth policy governance and participation have gained attention through the rising importance of youth issues in relation to economic and social situation and formation of youth agenda in global society. The aim of this study is to explore and evaluate factors that impact the policy decision-making process of youth policy governance in Gyeonggi province, South Korea, and answer the research question, ‘How is participatory governance impacting the development of youth policy decision-making process in Gyeonggi province, South Korea?’. This study advances the understanding of youth policy governance in South Korea by researching the case of Gyeonggi Province Youth Policy Participation Committee that provides insightful findings and analysis on youth policy governance. Thematic analysis of qualitative research has been conducted by analyzing the sub-committee meeting minutes of Gyeonggi Province Youth Policy Participation Committee in second term. Results indicate that youth policy decision-making process and policy proposal are progressed in more constructive, developmental, and interactive ways by promoting Youth Policy Participation Committee in Gyeonggi province, South Korea than Youth Policy Participation Committee before with specific findings in policy process and policy proposal development, system and institution reform and improvement, and activation of youth participation and communication. The implications for improvement on the committee system and activity, and enhancement of youth policy governance have been discussed, and contribution to the gap in the literature has been made with suggestions for further research on the case and literature.
