The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the effect of COVID-19 on the performance of social economy enterprises. For social economy enterprises participating in Social Progress Credit, the actual performance due to the negative impact of COVID-19 and the expected performance when COVID-19 is not taken into account were compared. As a result of the analysis, the actual economic and social performances were found to be lower than expected. However, when the outliers in performances were controlled, the actual net profit was found to be higher than expected. These results show that Social Progress Credit can enhances the sustainability of social economy enterprises through compensation for social performance in a social crisis situation.
