한국 안방의 의미와 변천에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Meaning and Transition of Korean An-Bang

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to identify general meaning of "An-Bang" in Korean family houses and to investigate the transition in physical aspects and room functions from traditional houses to the present. The documentary research method was used for this study.
The result revealed that the authority of the traditional "An-Bang" has been weakened and the multi-purpose of "An-Bang" has been branched into other rooms in home. While the function as a private space for husband and wife of "An-Bang" has been enlarged, the traditional meaning of "An-Bang" still remains in the modern Korean houses. Our master's space("An-Bang") is not defined to the husband and wife, but is a family's get together space and the same time private space. In our present houses, "An-Bang" still exists but the meaning has been changed and will be modified to the recently changing family's various lifestyle and lifeperiod.
