결혼이민자가정 유아의 학교준비도와 어머니의 교육참여 및 사회적 지지 지각 수준과의 관계 = The Relationship between Mother's Parental Involvement, Perceived Social Support, and Their Child's School Readiness of Immigrant Families in South Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examined mother's parental involvement, perceived social support, and their child’s school readiness of immigrant families in South Korea compared to those of non-immigrant Korean counterparts. It further investigated the relationship between the three variables of those immigrant families. Using survey results from mothers and teachers of 5-year-old children (100 immigrants and 104 non-immigrants), this study found out the following: (1) Significant differences were shown between two groups in mothers' home-based parental involvement, social support, and their child's school readiness. (2) Immigrant mothers' high level of home-based parental involvement and perceived social support were significantly related to better school readiness. These results indicate that mothers’ home-based parental involvement in education and social support that they gain from social network are critical in enhancing children’s school readiness.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 결혼이민자가정 유아의 학교준비도와 어머니의 교육참여, 어머니가 지각하는 사회적 지지수준이 어떠한지를 살펴보고, 이것이 일반가정과 비교하여 유의한 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 또한 결혼이민자가정 유아의 학교준비도가 어머니의 교육참여 및 어머니가 지각하는 사회적지지수준과 유의한 상관관계를 갖는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 제주도를 제외한 전국의 유아교육 기관에 다니는 결혼이민자가정 취학 전 만 5세 유아 137명과 동일 연령의 일반가정 유아 137명, 해당 유아의 어머니 274명과 담임교사 91명을 연구대상으로 선정하여 질문지를 배포하였다. 이 중 회수되지 않은 질문지와 무응답이 많은 질문지를 제외하고 총 204부(결혼이민자가정 100부, 일반가정 104부)를 최종분석에 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 PASW Statistics 18 프로그램을 이용하여 독립표본 t-검정과 Pearson의 적률상관계수를 실시하였으며, 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 결혼이민자가정 유아의 학교준비도, 어머니의 교육참여 및 사회적 지지 지각 수준은 일반가정 유아의 학교준비도, 어머니의 교육참여 및 사회적 지지 지각 정도에 비해 유의하게 낮았다. 둘째, 결혼이민자가정 유아의 학교준비도는 어머니의 가정 내 교육참여 및 사회적 지지 지각 수준과 유의한 정적 상관이 있었다.
