중학교 국악교육 실태조사에 관한 연구 : 경기도 용인시 수지구를 중심으로 = The research of the music class of Korean traditional music in Middle school

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 경기도 용인시 수지구에 있는 중학교를 중심으로 국악교육의 실태를 파악하고 구체적으로 어떠한 국악 교육 내용이 이루어지고 있는 지에 대한 조사를 통해 앞으로 효과적이고 바람직한 국악 교육의 방향을 모색하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다.
용인시 수지구 중학교 국악 교육 실태조사를 위하여 14개 학교를 대상으로 학생들과 교사들에게 설문지를 통해서 연구를 실시한 결론은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 용인시 수지구내 중학교에 재직 중인 중학교 교사들의 국악에 대한 관심도는 71.4%가 많은 편이라고 답변하였고, 학생들은 국악교육이 필요하다고 75%이상 느끼고 있지만 평소 국악 수업은 관심 없거나 지루하다고 말한 답변이 55%이상 나오면서 흥미를 못 느끼는 것으로 결과가 나왔다. 그 이유로는 교사의 어려운 수업 방식과 배우는 내용에 있어서 다양성이 없어서 학생들의 흥미도 많이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 용인시 수지구내 중학교에 재직 중인 중학교 교사들은 78.6%가 국악교육 전담 연수원의 필요성을 느끼고 있었으며, 최근 5년간 국악연수를 받은 적 없다(85.7%), 1∼2회 있다(14.3%)로 많은 교사들이 주기적인 국악연수를 받고 있지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 용인시 수지구내의 중학교에는 가장 많이 비치된 국악기가 단소(28.6%), 장구(28.6%)로 나타났고, 가야금(4.1%), 거문고(2.0%) 등의 값이 비싼 국악기는 거의 비치되어 있지 못한 실정이었다. 하지만 학생들이 가장 배우고 싶어 하는 악기는 가야금(34.3%)을 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
넷째, 학생들은 국악 수업 시 흥미를 느끼는 수업으로 감상(38.1%), 기악(34.5%), 가창(15.3%) 순으로 생각하는 것으로 나타났으며 이는 교사들이 학생들이 흥미를 느끼는 수업으로 가창(42.9%), 기악(35.7%) 순으로 생각한 것과 다르게 나타났다.
다섯째, 학생들은 국악 공연을 본적 없다(60.5%)가 가장 높게 나타났다. 이는 국악공연을 볼 수 있는 기회가 적었고 국악에 대한 흥미나 관심도가 떨어지는 것을 알 수 있다.
여섯째, 학생들은 국악 특기적성이나 방과 후 활동반 수준별 수업이 잘 이루어지고 있는지에 대해 아니오(90.4%)로 나타났다. 이는 수준별 수업이 이루어지지 않음으로서 어려움을 느끼는 것을 알 수 있다.
이를 토대로 몇 가지 제언을 해 보자면 교사들을 위한 적극적이고 주기적인 연수지도를 강화해서 국악교육의 질을 높여야 한다. 나라에서 국악교육 전담 연수원을 두고 한 두 번의 연수로 끝이 아닌 체계적인 관리가 필요할 것이며 이것을 철저히 관리 감독하여야 한다. 또한 연수 교육 하면서 사용하는 교육용 프로그램들을 만들어 업데이트 시켜주고 자료들도 쉽고 편하게 사용할 수 있게 e-book 으로 만들어 준다면 국악을 쉽고 재미있게 가르칠 수 있게 되고 학생들이 국악에 흥미를 가질 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다.
학교에서는 학생들이 다양한 국악기를 경험해 볼 수 있도록 국악교육 환경을 조성해 주어야 한다. 악기들이 제대로 구비될 수 있도록 국악실 마련이 시급하고 가야금이나 거문고 같은 고가의 악기를 학교에서 구비해두기 위해 학교예산 확충에 힘써야 한다. 나아가서는 나라에서 예산에 맞춰 저렴하게 악기를 공급해 줄 수 있도록 해줘서 국악교육을 위한 시설 및 기자재를 잘 갖춰 주어야 할 것이다.
또한 학생들이 문화공연을 통해 국악이란 장르를 자연스럽게 알아갈 수 있도록 들을 수 있는 기회를 많이 주어야 한다. 교사들과 나아가 용인시에서 관심을 가지고 국악공연관람 기회가 있을 때 학생들에게 홍보해주고 공연관람기회를 확대함으로서 학생들이 자연스레 국악과 친숙해지는 기회가 될 것이다.
국악수업과 국악 특기적성이나 활동반을 좀 더 활성화 시키고 체계적인 구성이 필요하고, 학년마다 연계시켜서 가르친다면 학생들이 배우는 데에 있어 국악에 흥미를 느낄 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of the study is that to suggest effective and proper plan of the Korean traditional music class through investigating and research of Korean music class focusing which is executed specifically in the middle school on Suji-gu, Yongin-si, Kyonggi-do.
I sent the questionnaires to teachers and students of 14 schools to understand Korean traditional music class environment. The following is the result of the research.
First, the teachers who was involved in the middle school of Suji-gu, Yongin-si, 71.4% of them responded that they were interested in Korean traditional music. Although 75% of students replied that they needed Korean traditional music class, but 55% of them felt the class was boring. It was the reason that difficult theaching method and the lack of diversity made the students boring.
Second, 78.6% of teachers needed training institute in exclusively charge of Korean traditional music class. During the last five years, teachers replied "Never been trained for Korean traditional music class"(85.7%) and "1~2 times"(14.3%). It indicated that most teachers had not been trained for Korean traditional music class periodically.
Third, most available Korean traditional music instrument in the middle school of Suji-gu, Yongin-si was Dan-so(28.6%) and Jang-gu(28.6%). Ga-ya-geum(4.1%) and Geo-mun-go(2.0%) that was expensive Korean musical instrument was almost never equipped in the middle school. However, the research represented that Korean musical instrument that most students wanted to learn was Ga-ya-geum(34.5%)
Fourth, as interesting Korean traditional music class, students replied "Appreciation"(38.1%), "Instrumental Music"(34.5%), "Singing"(15.3%). It was different with the teachers's answer they thought that students's interesting class was "Singing"(42.9%), "Instrumental Music"(35.7%).
Fifth, 60.5% of students replied that they never watched Korean traditional music performance. It indicated the few opportunity for Korean traditional music performance and lack of interesting or attention for Korean traditional music.
Sixth, 90.4% of students answered that level class of club activity for Korean traditional music was not conducted well. It represented that they felt the difficulty of level class since level class was not organized well.
Based on the result of the research, it is possible to suggest that active and periodic training for teachers is needed to improve the quality of Korean traditional music class. Government shall prepare the training institute in exclusively charge of Korean traditional music class. The systematic management not 1 or 2 times training is needed and government should supervise this training system. If the useful e-book for teaching Korean traditional music class is prepared and the educational S/W is developed and updated, that makes to teach Korean traditional music easily and interestingly. And it will be opportunity to make students attention.
To improve educational environment, the Korean traditional music chamber have to be offered and the school have to prepare the budget to buy expensive musical instrument like Ga-ya-geum and Geo-mun-go. Further more government should support that the school can purchase the instrument based on the budget so that tools and materials have to be equipped for Korean traditional music class.
To naturally get to know the Korean traditional music, the important thing is to give a opportunity for receiving the Korean traditional music to students. When there is a chance for watching the Korean traditional music performance, teachers and Yongin-si have to promote the performance and extend the opportunity to be familiar with the Korean traditional music.
The club activity for Korean traditional music have to be more activated and systematic organization is needed. If the club activity is liked well as grade, it will be opportunity for interest of the Korean traditional music when they learn.
