      浅析关联理论视角下的教学口译质量评估― 以韩文口译资料为例 = Interpreting Quality Assessment Viewed from Relevence Theory – With an Emphasis on Korean Texts for Interpreting

      This paper aims at establishing standards for interpreting quality assessment in view of Relevance Theory applied to translation studies by Gutt(1991). The idea was originated from the fact that in interpreting classes, the assessment has been conducted not on a theoretically objective standard but on a subjective standard of teachers.
      Based on Gutt’s theory, this paper sheds light on the comprehension of the texts by the students and their transposed expressions. The more there are explicit information given by the speaker, the less efforts for inference shall be made by the interpreter.
      And the clearer the explicit information in interpreting, the less efforts for inference shall be needed by the audience.
      First, interpreter’s comprehension capacity is to be analyzed through the comparison between the original text and the interpreted version made by the students. Before that, each sentence of the original text is classified into core explicit information and complementary information and they are analyzed in comparison with the interpreted version made by the student, thereby quantifying the text comprehension capacity of the student-interpreter.
      Secondly, we played the recorded interpreting of student to 5 native audience and let them assess the student’s inferring efforts, his or her pronunciation, speed, expressions and the level of audience understanding. In this process, we proved in figures that the clearer the interpreter’s expression, the less efforts are needed by the audience for inference. These efforts to assess interpreting quality shall become an objective standard in assessing students and that standard shall serve as an objective feedback for the students. The results shall enable the students to clearly discern their strengths and weaknesses and find ways to improve their interpreting quality in the future.
