      The purpose of this research was to develop teaching and learning method by applying generative-approach music teaching theory in elementary school Korean traditional music singing class and to examine the effect of music scholastic achievement through applying the theory and the change in class attitude. The subjects of this research were 72 5th grade students from two classes of G Elementary located in Sungnam city; the result showed that the experiment group to which generative-approach music teaching method was applied in Korean traditional music singing class had higher effect in scholastic achievement improvement than the controlled group which experienced normal Korean traditional music singing class. Also, as the result of examining the difference according to scholastic ability level, higher ranked group of students showed more positive effect for music scholastic achievement than middle or low ranked group of students. Meanwhile, as the result of qualitative analysis of generative-approach music teaching method applied Korean traditional music singing class, the formation of the basic concepts of Korean traditional music through musical expression exercises, the increase of interests in Korean traditional music, and the positive change of attitude toward Korean traditional class appeared.
