How are the English Garden Path Sentences realized Phonetically in Context Conditions?

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 선행연구에서 제기되어진 SFA 상황에서의 garden path현상이 SSA상황에서와는 어떠한 차이를 보이는지를 실험 문장내의 구역별간 발화시간의 차이와 F0값으로 구성된 피치패턴의 차이를 통하여 조사해보고 그 결과를 바탕으로 garden path 현상이 음성학적으로 어떠한 형태로 나타나는지를 규명하는 것이 궁극적 목표이다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 발화시간의 차이를 통하여 garden path 현상을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 우선 passive-causative verbs문장과 ambiguous post-verbal NPs문장은 휴지구역에서 NP-verb-by-PP문장은 중의성이 해소되는 구역에서 발화시간의 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 세 문장 모두 문두구역과 중의구역에서 피치패턴의 변화를 관찰 할 수 있었다. 이러한 발화시간의 차이와 피치패턴의 변화는 각 문장의 중의성 해소구역에 도달했을 때 garden path현상의 유무에 따라 문장의 재분석이 발생하는가에 따른 결과라 보여진다.
