Purpose: The number of children in Korea whose language environment is bilingual or multilingual has increased dramatically since the early 2000s. The purpose of this study was to explore the university students" perception of children with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in Korea. Methods: For this study a questionnaire consisting of participant characteristics, perception of CLD children"s language development and CLD mothers and children"s language use was distributed to university students in national wide. One hundred students participated in the survey through Google docs and the data was analyzed. Results: The results suggested that university students thought that children with CLD have language development problem due to bilingual environments. And they showed that mother with CLD have to communicate with their children using both Korean and mother"s native language. Conclusions: The results suggested that students specializing in speech and language pathology perceived children with CLD various aspects and other various factors to be considered together in the future studies.
