R. M. Hare의 황금률 논증에 의한 도덕판단의 정당화 방법 연구 = A Study of Method for Justification of Moral Decision through the Golden Rule Argument of R. M. Hare

The purpose of this study is to study the method for justification of moral decisions under the Golden Rule Argument of R. M. Hare as the fundamental principle to advance the justification of moral decisions for students. This type of study is expected to provide theoretical foundation in discussion and discourse education as the core part of practical thinking education in schools. Hare presents regularity, generalization possibility and priority as the unique features of moral decisions. The moral decisions with this type of feature generally follows the Hume's law that the factual prerequisite of IS could not formulate the moral conclusion of Ought. Hare also asserts that the moral principle related to Ought has to be included in the prerequisite in order to formulate the conclusion of Ought. On this basis, Hare classifies the moral inference into inference by the intuitive thinking and inference by critical thinking for the justification of moral decisions. In particular, the justification of moral decisions is asserted as possible through the 'hypothetico-deductive method’ that applied the Golden Rule Argument on the basis of critical thinking. Such a Golden Rule Argument of Hare has significant implication in the aspect of presenting ways of practical thinking education in schools.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 학생들의 도덕 판단의 정당화 능력을 키우기 위한 기초 이론으로서 헤어의 황금률 논증에 의한 도덕 판단의 정당화 방법을 연구하는 데 있다. 이러한 연구는 실질적으로 학교에서의 사고 교육의 핵심인 토론과 논술 교육을 함에 있어서 이론적 기초를 제공해 줄 것으로 생각된다. 헤어는 도덕 판단의 고유한 성격으로 규정성, 보편화 가능성, 우선성을 제시한다. 이러한 성격을 가진 도덕 판단은 일반적으로 존재(Is)의 사실적 전제에서 당위(Ought)의 도덕적 결론을 도출할 수 없다는 흄의 법칙을 따른다. 헤어 또한 당위의 결론을 도출하기 위해서는 반드시 전제에 당위와 관련된 도덕 원리가 포함되어 있어야 한다고 주장한다. 이를 바탕으로 헤어는 도덕 판단의 정당화를 위해 도덕 추론을 직관적 사고에 의한 추론과 비판적 사고에 의한 추론으로 구분한다. 특히 도덕 판단의 정당성은 비판적 사고를 바탕으로 황금률 논증을 적용한 ‘가설 연역적 방법(hypothetico- deductive method)’을 통해 가능하다고 주장한다. 이러한 헤어의 황금률 논증은 학교에서의 실질적인 사고 교육의 방법을 제시해준다는 점에서 많은 의의가 있다.
