전업주부의 공공도서관 성인독서교육을 통한 자기도야 경험 탐구 = A Study of Housewives’ 「Bildung」 Experiences Through Adult Reading Education Program of Public Libraries

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study tried to reveal that explores the experience of Bildung through reading education of the full-time housewives who participated in the adult reading education of the public library. This study was carried out in order to look into the course and the details of specific changes, seeing that learners are initially involved in adult reading education to help their children read, but after that they got changed not only as supports of their children‘s reading but also as mothers reading books and adult learners. The experience of adult housewives in adult reading education was a process of internal discipline to look back at oneself, and a process of Bildung in which they were actively seeking methods to realize their goals, and acquiring knowledge, capability, and skills. As a concept similar to Self-Discipline in english. Bildung is the course as well as the results in which one develops the interests and abilities that are buried in life, becomes a considerate person by receptively behaving to others. Through participant mothers, this study could meet women who realize self-cultivation by developing their own capability and realize self-cultivation by developing strength in relations, who do not teach but learn, who do not draw but share together, not housewives who are dedicated only to housework and child care but adult learners who search interested field and study.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 공공도서관의 성인독서교육에 참여한 전업주부들의 독서교육을 통한 자기도야 경험을 참여자들의 시각에서 반추하여 탐구한 질적 연구이다. 수강생들이 처음에는 자녀의 독서를 도와주기위해 성인 독서교육에 참여하지만, 교육 후에는 자녀의 독서 지원자 일뿐 아니라 책 읽는 엄마로, 공부하는 성인학습자로 변해가는 것을 보고 구체적인 변화의 과정과 내용을 알아보기 위해 본 연구를 수행하였다. 전업주부들의 성인독서교육경험은 자신을 되돌아보는 내적 수양의 과정이자, 자신이 설정한 목표를 실현하기 위해 방법을 찾고 적극적으로 지식, 능력, 기술을 습득하는 자기도야의 과정이었다. 자기도야는 영어권의 Self-Discipline과 유사한 개념으로 내적 수양을 통해 현상을 ‘통찰’하고, 생활 속에 매몰되어있던 자신의 흥미와 능력을 계발하고, 타인에게 수용적으로 행동함으로써 사려 깊은 인간이 되는 과정이자 결과다. 가르치는 엄마가 아니라 배우는 엄마로, 끌어주는 엄마가 아니라 함께하는 엄마로, 집안일과 육아만을 전담하는 전업주부가 아니라 관심분야를 찾아 시간을 내어 공부하는 성인학습자로 자리잡아가는 참여자들을 통해 자신의 고유한 능력을 계발하고, 관계 속에서 그 힘을 키워 자기도야를 이루는 여성들을 만날 수 있었다.
