김동리 소설 연구 : 「황토기」,「까치소리」를 중심으로 = A Study on Kim Dong-Li(金東里)'s Fictions

This study is on Kim Dong-Li(金東里)'s fictions, especially 「Hwangtogi(黃土記)」 and 「G'achisori(까치소리)」. His fictions are based on synchronicity. In his critical essays, he discussed the plot with reference to casuality in the law of cause and effect. The idea became clearer when considered in the light E. M. Poster's theoly of plot. He pursued synchronicity in his fiction, it is an acausal connecting principle. His notion of cause and effect is based on a view of organic world. It is dissimilar to causality. In organic world, universe is organism which is accumulated by countless organism. Kim Dong-Li early studied 「Noneu(論語」「Juyeon(周易)」. Maybe, a view of organic world is studied from 「Juyeon」. He indirectly discussed sychronicity in theoly of the fiction.
In Kim Dong-Li's fictions, the law of cause and effect is connected with shamanism, incantation, and a folk belief. There coexist synchoronicity and organism in his fiction. The life of character in 「Hwangtogi」 is corresponded with a tale of the yellow land which was formed, and the murderous act of character in 「G'achisori」 is coincided with chirp of magpie. Also, inner cause of murderous act is the Korean War in 1950. The variation of person's consciousness by war is enough to give causality in plot of this fiction. That is the inner causality.
This synchronicity is based on organism of the world. Organism coexists in the ancient idea in the Orient and the modern physics in the West. So is it not the idea of incantation world. Synchronicity have premodernity in incantation, and post modernity in spiritism and the deep-psychology. Simultaneously, Kim Dong-Li's fictions have premodernity and modernity, or post modernity.
