중학생들의 작문능력 실태조사 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 중학교 2학년 학생 189명을 대상으로 설명글, 설득글, 서사글을 수집하여 질적 양적 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결론과 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다.
첫째, 중학생들의 작문능력의 평균은 100점 만점에 41점 정도로 나타나 상당히 낮은 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 특히 하위 수준의 학생들의 비중이 커서 우려스러운 정도라고 할 수 있다.
둘째, 중학생들의 작문능력 실태를 분석해 본 결과 성별, 지역별/학교별 차이가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이것은 국어과 성취도 평가와 유사한 결과지만 그 정도는 더 크다고 할 수 있다.
셋째, 중학생들의 작문능력 실태를 분석해 본 결과 설득하는 글쓰기 능력이 다른 장르에 비해 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 논리적인 글쓰기 지도가 필요하다.
넷째, 중학생들의 작문능력 실태를 분석해 본 결과 학생들은 내용 선정, 조직 능력이 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다.
다섯째, 단어수와 문장수는 글쓰기 점수와 상관이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 단어수와 점수의 상관이 높았다.

학생들의 작문 수준이 전반적으로 낮은 것은 국가수준의 작문 평가가 이루어지지 않은 것에 원인이 있기 때문에 하루 빨리 국가수준의 작문 평가를 실시해서 학교에서의 작문 지도를 강화해야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated expository, persuasive, narrative texts written by middleschool students. major findings of this study were followed.
First, the level of middle school stidents' writing abilities was very low, the writing score is 41. Second, results of this study showed gaps by gender, region, and schools. Third, middle school students demonstrated relatively lower performances in writing persuasive texts among 3 genres. Forth, students struggled the most in selecting/organizing contents in various dimensions of writing. Fifth, the number of words and sentences are lot more, writing scores are higher. The results of this study showed the necessity for a National assessment to measure students' writing ability.
