This paper examines the policy demands of regional fishery focusing on the off-shore fishery of Busan. Policies in harmony with the region are required more when regional competitiveness is emphasized for more regional economic vitality. Especially, Busan is not only the base of Korean deep sea fishery, but it has large share in off-shore fishery. However, the foundational sinking in fishery of Busan is serious and it exceeds more than the national average, thereby requiring urgent countermeasures.
Based on the results of AHP analysis from a survey for off-shore fishermen and related experts, we derived the priority order in the regional off-shore fishery policies as follow. Firstly, branding regional fishery products turned out to be the most important task. Second priority task was supporting fuel expenses to the off-shore fishery in particular for the fishermen who go far away. Next, promotion and advertisement for the regional fishery products, development and diffusion of energy saving technologies, and efforts for fishery resource recovery were deduced as critical, common policies.
