만 5세 꿈들반 놀이에 나타난 지도탐색의 양상연구 = A Study on the Patterns of Map Exploration During Play Time in a Kumdeul Class for 5-year-olds

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to determine the meaning of map exploration in play by providing an environment in which a 5-year-old could explore maps in the classroom. The participants were 26 5-yearold children from H daycare center located in D city in south Korea. The research was conducted three times a week for four weeks from October 3, 2022, to October 28, 2022. First, preliminary research was conducted after forming a rapport with the infants, and the data collection used children’s observation records, informal interviews, research journals, photos, and videos. The data were read repeatedly, and meaningful content was drawn through categorization after selecting important key-words. The meaning of a map search in 5-year-olds’ play was found to be “understanding the usefulness concept of maps”, “increased verbal expression of map elements” and “awakening a sense of geography”. This finding suggests that, through map exploration, children, can experience the elements of maps and grasp difficult geography education in everyday life.
