다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

The travel gasa Seoyukyonmunrok was written by Lee, Jong-eung after his trip as an envoy and Haeyouga by Kim, Han-hong after his private trip. The two writers each wrote Seosarok and Seoyangmikuknojungki in Chinese characters, which were those gasa works were based on.
In the Seoyukyonmunrok, the writer descried the urban landscapes regarding the Liverpool Port and London of the U.K and the Nagasaki and Yokohama Ports of Japan, Fergana, and Sri Lanka, Colombo; particularly his descriptions of London were written in more detail than his stopover sceneries. In the Haeyouga, the readers are introduced to the city landscapes at the time through the writer’s journey throughout his destination Hawaii, and San Francisco, and other areas such as Seoul, Chungju, Andong, Jinju, Busan Port, Daegu, and Gyeongju of Korea, and Shimonoseki and Kobe Ports of Japan. Among all the areas, his destination sceneries were described in most detail just like the Seoyukyonmunrok.
In those two gasa works, the readers can sense that the writers were mesmerized and envious of the developed Western cities of the U.K and U.S, from their accounts filled with admirations and praises. Also, they were overwhelmed by the relatively modernized Japanese cities.
The two writers both saw the reality of the world-class cities at the time, which expanded their knowledge and led to their aspirations of Korea’s modernization. However, in the Haeyouga, the writer strongly conveyed his resentment and sad feelings towards Japan in the parts describing Seoul and Gyeongju, Jinju, and Chungju. It implicitly conveys his message calling for stronger ethnic consciousness and self-reflections.
Meanwhile, the two Western journey gasa works give vivid descriptions of the cities of the U.K, the U.S and Japan in the early 20th century, which is quite meaningful to the readers. The cities with spectacular sceneries and traditions, yet harmony of artifacts and nature, as well as well-preserved historic relics and remains are probably the ideal models of urban landscapes in the present and the future. In other words, those cities represent the vision of desirable cities with good living conditions and tourist-friendly features, which should be included in a city development blueprint.
